My first thought when opening up the website http://www.poweringanation.org/water/ was how I didn’t like how I was only able to watch a video. Then I realized that I had to open the site on another internet browser and I did not like how I could not use my default one. After that out I notices that the page very simple design. It was so simple that some people may not know how to navigate their way around the page. There was absolutely no initial information until you clicked on something.
First I watched the video for a couple of seconds then got bored with it so I stopped it. Then I clicked on the first bullet and it there was another video so I tried the next one. I then came to a bullet that I liked and it was about questions and facts about water that I thought I should know. I clicked on every one in order but the one I liked most was the fifth bullet. It told the audience how much water is being used. It started from how much water was in a gallon all the up until how much water is on earth. I thought that that was very interesting and it was something that defiantly kept attention. I could not find anywhere on the page someone to contact.
I asked a friend to go to the website and look around and type what she thought
She wrote the following;
“• I had no problems with the website during the first encounter but I initially thought it was only going to be a video
• After watching the video a different page popped up , where there were a collage of photos.
• After scrolling over each one they all had a different topic that related to water
• I looked into to each once and read a little on each topic
• By doing this I found the contact information of creators , producers and reports.
• I found their contact information by clicking on “ About powering a nation” which redirects the viewer to a page listing information about the creators
• It took a while for me to find out that the bullet points were topics about water, which were the same ones in the collage pictures.
• I click on all the bullet points to notice this similarity.
• I also found out that if while watching the video I would like to switch over to the collage of pictures the play button at the end does that
• I also noticed that the phrase “ how to view”, “ why 100 gallons” and the word “ about” were clickable and directed me to another page”
